A cooking oil. A finishing oil. A supplement. One bottle.
Extra virgin olive oil the way it was meant to taste: green, peppery, bitter at the finish, with the catch at the back of the throat that tells you exactly what is in it. Be frivolous with it. Pour it over bread, beans, eggs, fish, a tomato, a bowl of anything warm. Dress with it. Roast with it. Cook with it; that is what it is for.
And it carries more polyphenols than almost any bottle you can buy, which is why the same oil, taken neat in the morning, is also the oldest supplement there is. One tablespoon, 15 ml, before coffee, and you get the oil exactly as it left the press: the full sting, the full 1,026 mg/kg. No capsule. It comes with dinner.
The oil: single-farm Koroneiki from Liva Groves, Ariochori, Kalamata. Picked green in October, cold pressed the same day. More than 500 mg/kg polyphenols guaranteed for every lot; this lot measured 1,026 mg/kg, certified by the World Olive Center for Health, Athens (cert. C2526-00821). Oleocanthal 259 mg/kg, about twice the UC Davis study average. Certified organic (EU), BIOHELLAS. 500 ml / 16.9 fl oz.
Use: finishing, cooking, and a tablespoon a day. Store closed, cool and out of light.
Olive oil polyphenols contribute to the protection of blood lipids from oxidative stress. Authorised in the European Union (Reg. 432/2012) for oils providing at least 5 mg of hydroxytyrosol and its derivatives per 20 g; this lot measured 20.5 mg per 20 g. The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 20 g of olive oil.
